Our exquisite doll accessories are inspired by some things we have long coveted at the incomparable Paris toy mecca, Au Nain Bleu. The pieces and sets mostly are designed with the popular 18" doll in mind, unless it is a set that comes with its own doll.


PLEASE NOTE: Many of our doll accessories -- play sets, trunks, beds and the like -- were made long before there was a Consumer Product Safety Commission to review them, therefore there is no guarantee that any of these items meet contemporary safety standards. Some have small pieces; some do not have a "spanking-new" finish. Always be in charge of what your children play with, and use your judgment as to the age-appropriateness of any toy that we offer here. We do not recommend any of our selections for children under 7.

We recently acquired the pattern at right for a beautiful quilted satin comforter for baby, and we are now offering a handmade doll-size reproduction of this lovely piece. These comforters are bound to become cherished heirlooms. Order one in pink/blue satin (as pictured) or blue/white. (We are looking for a good source of soft yellow and ivory satin.) Bassinets, beds and cradles

The tradition of the elaborately elegant bassinet or cradle goes way back. Those pictured at right come from a late 19th century French ladies magazine.

Demoiselle is offering one-of-a-kind baby bassinets, beds and cradles for your favorite doll, inspired by the old ones like the ones pictured at right. At left is a doll bassinet, splendidly skirted in ivory eyelet, that we recently created for a client. We are taking old doll bassinets, etc., and refurbishing them with a fresh coat of paint, then outfitting them in the finest hand-embroidered linens -- from little hand-pieced quilts to satin coverlets decorated with handmade ribbon roses.

Etrennes, or play setsetrennes old French playset

Etrennes are the traditional gifts given not on Christmas but on New Year's Day in France. In the old French toy and department store catalogs, prominent among the etrennes are the "maneges" for little girls: sets of just-like-mom toys, from tea sets to vanity table items. At right are two such items from the pages of an original French catalog.

We offer our very own etrennes, one-of-a-kind play sets lovingly assembled from our collection of tin dishes, child-sized depression glass, doll-scale linens and other special trinkets.


Below: Our tea party play set for dolly and a friend includes two old tin plates and a platter, a cobalt depression glass pitcher and glasses, a bouquet, doll-sized forks, lacy paper napkins, and an array of French pastries. (food, non-edible, is made of Fimo, molded with old French toy pastry tins and cookie cutters.) We are throwing in a doll's cutwork tablecloth and doily for the table top. #ETR2 $55.
